Holy Week

“Don’t have faith. Have active faith!” It’s what I said to a lady this morning. I was encouraging her to be open handed with her business and not just have Faith in God, but pray forth what God’s dreams  for her life are. The idea will not leave me because it’s Holy Week. It’s one of my favorite  times of the year.  I set this week aside to try to reflect on the significance of this week and the impact it has on the rest of my year.

_ My house will be called a House of prayer._

I also spend more time in prayer than I usually do. If I have ever known you or had a conversation with you, chances are you are getting prayed for! That’s how the conversation started with the lady this morning:)

If I like your status or Instagram, pic; you are definitely getting prayed for.  I’m sharing this to encourage you to join me! It’s amazing and life changing when you partner up with Jesus to pray for something to come forth in His name.

I Googled Jesus Holy Week… I know… Super spiritual and learned that on day two, Jesus entered the temple and cleansed it out of all things that weren’t suppose to be there.

After Jesus cleared it out, Matthew 21:13 writes,” My house will be called a House of prayer.”

If you have spent any time in church, you’ve heard that your body is a temple.  Let’s take this week to turn our bodies into a house of prayer!!!  Let’s pray boldly for God to move in our lives and in the lives of others.  Pray that God gives you the boldness to invite someone to church for Easter.  Pray for that friend or family member that they come to know Christ this year.

Later on this day in Holy Week, Jesus’ disciples were amazed of what they witnesses Jesus do a fig tree.

Jesus’ response is totally my point!! I love it.

“I tell you the truth if you have faith and do not doubt not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, “Go throw yourself into the sea and it will be done.” If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer!

What!?! Tell a mountain to go throw itself into the sea??? Jesus….that sound crazy.  And have no doubt…I’ve tried that and it didn’t work.

It’s so important to know that Jesus knows us more than we know ourselves.  He knows we have doubts.  He knows we don’t dare pray for mountains to move because we can’t even walk across this little creek! I prayed for patience yesterday, had no doubt, and still yelled at the kiddos!!

This passage is a beautiful invitation from Jesus to pray for BIG things.

So cleanse your temple and turn it into a house of prayer this week.  It’s almost like Jesus is daring his disciples.  I can’t share enough about what I’ve seen the Lord do during these weeks of prayer.  He has always been so faithful.  Spend some time reading about what Jesus did this week. I literally Google Holy week because I’m not a Bible scholar…thanks Siri!  If you have never been one to read the Bible, I encourage you to start today!  It’s good stuff. I’m reading the gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John this week.

I challenge you to not just have faith in Jesus this week but instead have Active Faith! Join Jesus and do what He says and pray that mountains move.

I am.

I thank you for Jesus. I thank you for His example. I thank you that because of Easter we can actually join you.  I pray that every eye who reads these words draw closer to this week and that you reveal what needs to be cleaned out of our lives.  Help us to pray boldly and move mountains in Jesus’ name.  It’s all about you God. Please keep us amazed at your goodness. In Jesus’s name I pray.
